1211 Arrives at Sttard on a Northbound IC service.

The NS class 1200 locomotives were built under licence from Baldwin by Werkspoor in Utrecht between 1951 and 1953. This shot shows 1211 running into Sittard station on a Maastricht to Zandvoort aan Zee IC service. The coach immediately behind the loco is a Plan “W” coach, the same design as the “Silberling” or Silver Fish I would come to know so well in Germany over the coming years. The only difference being the sliding windows instead of the droplights of the DB stock. The Plan “W” stock had all been withdrawn prior to this trip but had recently been reinstated to cope with the large numbers of passengers travelling on this route. Superb stock to travel in and appreciate the 1200’S
