1501 "Diana"

All 7 of the Former Woodhead route class 77s were exported to Holland for use on the Dutch Railways in 1969. Six of the loco’s were used extensively with NS until 1986. 27005 was used for spares on arrival in Holland and both 27000 and 27001 were repatriated for preservation in the UK after their withdrawal in 1986. 27003 became NS 1501 and was named Diana (named after the Roman goddess of the “hunt”). In 2011, 1501 is preserved in Holland by “Stichting Klassieke Locomotieven” but at the time of the tour the loco was operated by “Werkgroep 1501”. In this shot "Diana" is setting back onto the tour stock.

24th April 1993.
