And so the bug had well and truly bitten and I was back. A rail tour in Holland beckoned for my second indulgence and I arrived via the now long gone overnight ferry from Dover Western Docks to Oostende. The “move” off of the overnight ferry was the 06.24 Oostende to Koln HBF Inter City and this was hauled by either a class 16 – as seen here with 1601 at the helm, or a class 18. The front coach was always a DB “Bm” compartment coach, 12 fluffy seated compartments with drop down windows, LUXURY.
