1709 with Double Deck stock at Tilburg
Double deck coaches were certainly a new phenomenon to me and there were quite a few sets running on my first visit. There were a number of sets running to the North of Amsterdam on the lines to Den Helder and Enkhuizen working in long rakes with class 1600 locos. A new order was in the process of being delivered on this trip and were being worked by class 1700 locomotives, a newer variant of the Alsthom built class 1600. These sets could work in multiple with two locos / sets of stock that were seen in various formations, locos on outer ends, both in the middle, one middle, one end and so on. Quite a sight for a person used to the BR methods of operation. This is a shot of a test train that was working around the Tilburg area and is formed of loco 1709 with coaches 7526, 7239, 7238 & 7021/
